    Whether you’ve lived in the Methow Valley for two months or eighty years, this place has changed you and made you who you are. How does it influence the way you see the world? What thrills you about it? What keeps you here? What makes you want to leave? In this two-hour poetry playshop, we’ll read and write poems that help us explore our relationship to this place we call home.

    Time: 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.

We’ll travel to places simultaneously somber and playful, brokenhearted and uplifting, even solemn and sexy as Rosemerry wades heart-deep in the broken world and finds in the rubble honest, surprising invitations to fall more deeply in love with the world.

    A reading and writing workshop with Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer

    What magic might happen when we gather on the playground of a blank page? No writing experience necessary—just wonder and willingness. Together we’ll read and write poems that invite the imagination and embrace the wildness and raw humanness of our own stories. A wondrous chaos might ensue.

    $25 Registration
    Open to all ages | Limited to 30 people

    No previous writing experience necessary for all sessions, you don’t even have to like poems. You don’t even need to bring a pen and paper—unless you want to. We’ll provide everything, including a space for you to be curious. Sharing will be optional. Laughter will be inevitable.

  • Screening: In the Name of Forgotten Women

    Commemorate International Women’s Day at a one-night-only screening of In the Name of Forgotten Women written by Cindy Williams Gutiérrez and directed by Gemma Whelan.

    About the Film: This is a film of the live theatrical production of In the Name of Forgotten Women presented at CoHo Theatre in Portland, Oregon in April of 2022. The film runs for 92 minutes.

    About the WorkIn the Name of Forgotten Women bears witness to the global oppression of women and testifies to their resilience. Inspired by real-life incidents in 15 countries, this dynamic “choreopoem” dramatizes poetry with music, movement, ritual, and projection. Featuring the individual and collective voices of seven diverse women representing the continents, this dramatic work is, in essence, a ceremony to restore the Feminine in the world.

    Post-show Discussion: The screening will be followed by a conversation between playwright-producer Cindy Williams Gutiérrez and First Nations Cultural Consultant Jacquelyne Andrew (Lil’wat) of unceded territory (British Columbia, Canada). This discussion is sponsored by the Methow Valley Interpretive Center and Room One.
